Place pitted dates in a bowl of water and soak for 10 minutes and then drain.
In your blender such as a vita mix and blend the drained dates and almond butter. Once smooth, add in the pecans, vanilla extract and salt. Blend well until you get a soft crumbly texture.
Pour this mixture into a greased square baking dish. Pat it down so its nice and even.
Place chocolate chips, coconut oil and almond butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for a minute and stir and then keep heating for 20 second intervals and stir until all melted and blended. Do not heat it too long because it will burn.
Layer the chocolate on top of the date mixture. Top it off with chopped pecans. Place in freezer for an hour. Take out and cut up into small bite pieces and place into a freezer safe container.
